Vedic Gurukul

Life at the Vedic Gurukul of Shri Vidhya Kalyan Dham: the studies of the rishikumars, the daily rhythm, the sixteen sanskars and how to enquire about admission.

The guru-shishya tradition

The Gurukul of the Dham follows the ancient guru-shishya tradition. Living in the presence of Gurudev, the rishikumars study the Vedic mantras, sandhyavandan, yagna rites, Sanskrit and the shastras.

Daily rhythm

Rising in the brahma-muhurta, bathing and morning sandhya; then the daily yagna and Vedic recitation. Study and seva through the afternoon; in the evening, sandhya, bhajan-kirtan and the aarti of Shri Yantraraj. Festivals such as Uttarayan, Ganeshotsav and Guru Purnima are celebrated in the shastric manner.

The sixteen sanskars

The sixteen Vedic sanskars, from garbhadhan to antyeshti, are performed at the Dham according to the shastras. At the annual festival, group upanayana (janoi) for boys and group Vedic marriages for daughters who have lost their parents are held. At the second annual festival on 22 April 2026, eleven boys received the sacred thread and five daughters were married.
